    Low carb diet refers to a diet program that contains food having low carbohydrate content. The basic purpose of low carb diet is to restrict the consumption of carbohydrate to lose weight. Mostly obese or overweight people resort to low carb diet. Diets containing high carbohydrate foods are replaced with light foods with less no or less carbohydrate content. Usually protein enriched foods are included in this diet program. For example pasta and bread are replaced with meat or soya like high protein enriched foods. Moreover fruits and green vegetables are preferred in low carb diet.  The clinical definition of low carb diet refers to restricted consumption of high calorie food in which carbohydrate consumption reduced to an extent of 20 to 50 gram per day.
