There are several ways of getting rid of the hair growth on your back. With the latest innovations in hair removal techniques, permanent removal of back hair has become the recent possibility. Let’s look at the techniques commonly used in back hair removal.
Shaving
Though shaving is one of the methods used for hair removal, many don’t go with it since risk of ingrown hair is great and the procedure in itself can be quite painful and irritating.
Waxing
Most of the people prefer waxing method for hair removal since its easy and provides good results. Before applying wax on the area to be waxed, do test for any type of skin irritation or allergy. Avoid taking a shower before waxing since it would not let the wax stick firmly. Heat the wax carefully till the consistency is soft but not too liquid.
If waxing causes much pain on your skin, apply pain reducing gel or cream 30 to 60 minutes before waxing so the skin is ready to be waxed without pain. Apply a thin layer of wax in the direction of the hair growth and peel back with a rapid movement close to the skin. Do not pull up or out, rather pull back. Clean the skin with a warm moist towel afterwards to remove excess wax. Avoid wearing tight clothing over freshly waxed areas to minimize the risk of irritation and allergy.
Sugaring
Sugaring is another technique, wherein sugar paste is warmed and then applied thinly to the skin in the direction of the hair growth. Reusable cotton strips are then pressed firmly onto the paste and then sharply pulled back thus removing the hair with the paste.
Even for this method, hair must be clean and dry for best results. If using a spatula to apply the paste use the edge not the flat side. This will help ensure a very thin layer is applied.
If using hot water to warm the paste container, be sure not to allow water into the paste. Sugar paste is water soluble and will be spoiled if the container is not sealed properly and water gets in.
Laser Treatment
Back hair removal by laser treatment can take anything from one to three hours depending upon the hair growth and area to be shaved.
An absolute requirement is that the hair must be darker than the surrounding skin. White skin with dark hair responds best. Persons with dark, coarse hair are the easiest to treat as dark hair contains melanin, a dark pigment which attracts the laser light so more laser energy is absorbed. Fewer sessions are needed. Light colored hair is more difficult to treat and blonde and red hair are very difficult to treat requiring multiple sessions with varied results.
The pain caused by laser therapy varies from person to person. Sensitive skin can obviously suffer from pain.
The cost of laser back hair removal treatment depends upon the area you stay in and the technology used for the purpose.
