Cellulite is a condition that occurs in most women around the globe where the skin tissue of your limbs, stomach and the pelvic region becomes dimpled after having gone through puberty. Some men are affected too but that is usually down to some hormonal imbalances. Although cellulites is a completely normal condition that occurs, most of us judge these curves as too plump and are not considered aesthetic. Cellulite may also be called orange peel syndrome and cottage cheese skin.
Cellulite is a modernized term for the collection of the fat that pushes against the connective tissues just located under the skin. You can check if you do have cellulite by pinching your skin. This condition of cellulites affects 80% of women and worsens with age. It does not cause any physical problem but especially young women suffer from psychological issues such as depression and insecurity.
The cause of cellulites is not well understood and may be caused in changes in physiology, metabolism or an alteration of the connective tissue structure. There are some other possible causes that could play a significant
role when it comes to developing cellulite:
Diet – Dieting has shown some effects on improving or worsening the condition of cellulite as gaining and losing a lot of weight has a drastic impact on your fatty layers.
Hormonal factors – Hormones play a significant role in the build up of cellulite. There is a vast majority of hormones that have an effect on cellulite. It is believed that imbalances of Estrogen, insulin and thyroid hormones can cause a more severe case of cellulite.
Genetic factors – Race, gender and biotype and the distribution of fat have all shown to contribute to the development of cellulite.
Lifestyle – An unhealthy lifestyle will cause an increase in cellulite. People and especially women that smoke, do not exercise regularly, eat fatty foods or sit/stand a lot in a single position prone to cellulite.
Fashion – Believe it or not but fashion has an impact as well. In the past decades women went from wearing loose underwear to more tight underwear. Underwear that fits tightly around the upper buttocks causes the blood circulation to decrease hence a lack in blood flowing into the affected zones where cellulite is mostly found. So what to do once you have cellulite? There are many ways to treat cellulite but scientists say there is no cure that has been 100% effective and cellulite is a completely normal condition in most women. Exercise, a strict diet and giving up a bad lifestyle help to reduce a fat and cellulite condition. There are also some more advanced and technical savvy therapies such as laser therapy, liposuction etc. These therapies are costly and reduce the cellulite and fatty layers from your body however if not changing your lifestyle, the cellulite may be back within months. Doctors recommend strongly to live a healthier life and carry out a lot of exercise especially aerobics and strength workouts to avoid and lessen the condition of cellulite.
